PlayStationStick drift test and calibration guide

PlayStation Access Controller: stick drift test and fix

The Access Controller is an accessibility pad with swappable stick caps and a highly remappable layout, so a reading that looks unusual is often the configuration rather than a fault. DriftNo reports what the hardware is sending so you can tell a mapping choice apart from genuine drift.

What to expect with the PlayStation Access Controller

How DriftNo treats this pad for Access Controller stick behaviour: what you can test in a browser, what can be written to the controller, and when a repair is the honest answer.

In practice

Testing, Health Score and deadzone preview behave normally. Calibration support is more limited than on a DualSense, and DriftNo marks that rather than implying a write it cannot make.

Key points

  • Swappable stick caps and orientation change the feel but not the underlying sensor reading.
  • Calibration support is limited on the web compared with DualSense and DualShock 4.
  • Useful mainly for confirming whether a stick is actually drifting before changing your setup.

PlayStation Access Controller stick drift: common questions

Can DriftNo calibrate the Access Controller?

Only partially. Diagnostics and Health Score work, but the centre and range write path available on DualSense and DualShock 4 is limited here. The capability table on this page shows exactly what is supported.

My remapped profile makes the stick read strangely. Is that drift?

Probably not. Remapping and stick cap orientation change what the pad reports. Test with your normal profile, then compare against a default profile to separate configuration from a hardware problem.

Does the Health Score work on an accessibility pad?

Yes. The score is computed from the same measurements - resting drift, circularity, jitter and trigger behaviour - so you can still track the same controller over time.

How do I know whether to calibrate or replace the stick?

Run the scan first. Stable readings with an off-centre rest point point to calibration. Noisy, inconsistent readings, or drift that returns shortly after a fix, point to a worn module - replace it, then calibrate the new one.
