DualSense: stick drift test and fix

The DualSense is the controller DriftNo can help the most in a browser. Connect it over USB in Chrome or Edge and the full path is available: measure resting drift, score the pad out of 100, then write corrected centre and range values to the controller itself.

What to expect with the DualSense

How DriftNo treats this pad for DualSense stick drift: what you can test in a browser, what can be written to the controller, and when a repair is the honest answer.

In practice

Because the correction is stored on the pad rather than in the browser, it comes with you when you unplug and go back to your console. That is the difference between a test tool and a fix.

Key points

  • Stick modules are standard potentiometer units, so drift from wear is common after heavy use and calibration cannot reverse it.
  • Centre and range calibration over USB is free in DriftNo, with no disassembly.
  • Adaptive trigger and touchpad behaviour is read-only - DriftNo reports it rather than changing it.

What works for the DualSense

Pulled from the DriftNo controller registry for DualSense Wireless Controller, so it matches what each DriftNo app offers after you connect this pad.

DualSense stick drift: common questions

Does the fix stay on the controller when I unplug it?

Centre and range calibration written over USB is stored on the controller, so it travels with the pad when you move it to your console. Deadzone and curve tuning is browser-side and does not.

Can I calibrate a DualSense over Bluetooth?

Testing and the Health Score work over Bluetooth, but calibration writes need the USB cable. Plug in before the save step of Quick Fix.

My DualSense drifts again a week after calibrating. Why?

That pattern points to a worn potentiometer rather than a calibration problem. The reference point you set is still correct; the sensor underneath has stopped reporting consistently. A stick module replacement is the real fix, and you should calibrate again afterwards.

How do I know whether to calibrate or replace the stick?

Run the scan first. Stable readings with an off-centre rest point point to calibration. Noisy, inconsistent readings, or drift that returns shortly after a fix, point to a worn module - replace it, then calibrate the new one.

Same platform family or common upgrade path from the DualSense.

Test your DualSense

Connect the controller and run a free scan. You will know in about two minutes whether this is a calibration job or a repair job.
