Before and after: see if the fix worked

Most controller tools stop at the diagnosis. DriftNo re-measures after the fix and puts the two results side by side - score, drift delta and the metrics that moved - so you can tell a real improvement from a placebo.

Before / After

Before

After

  • Resting drift4.8% → 0.9%
  • Centre offset0.07 → 0.01
  • Circularity11% → 6%
Example session: Health Score 58 to 81. Your numbers come from your own scans. A software-only fix usually moves the score less than a stick replacement.

What gets compared

  • Health Score

The 0–100 figure before and after, with the delta called out.

  • Resting drift

The headline symptom, measured the same way both times.

  • Centre and shape

Centre error and circularity, so you can see what the calibration moved.

Why a small delta is still a useful result

A software-only fix on healthy hardware often produces a modest change, because there was not much wrong in the first place. A near-zero delta on a badly drifting pad is more informative: it tells you the problem is physical and no amount of tuning will reach it.

The 58 → 81 example shown on this site is one example session, not an average and not a promise. We label it that way deliberately, because a tool that claims a fixed improvement figure for every controller is not measuring anything.

Using it to verify a repair

Before/After is most valuable around hardware work. Scan before you open the controller, fit the new module, then scan again. You get a documented result instead of an impression, which is also exactly what a warranty or resale conversation needs.

FAQ

Are the Before/After numbers on this site real results?

The 58 → 81 figure shown on these pages is labelled as an example session, not an average or a promise. Your own Before/After numbers are generated from your own scans in the Lab, and software-only fixes often move the score much less than a repair does.

What is Controller Health Score?

A single 0–100 rating DriftNo calculates from resting drift, circularity error, jitter and trigger behaviour, with a component breakdown underneath. It exists so you can compare the same controller before and after a fix instead of relying on how it feels.

Does DriftNo fix stick drift permanently?

It depends on the cause. If the stick rests off-centre but is otherwise stable, calibration can correct it and the correction holds. If the potentiometer is worn - scratchy, jumpy, drift that comes back within minutes - no software can repair that. DriftNo tells you which case you are in instead of guessing.

Is DriftNo free?

Yes for the part that matters. The stick drift test, Controller Health Score, Quick Fix, Before/After comparison and the gamepad tester are free, and so is transferring centre and range onto a DualSense or DualShock 4 over USB. Premium (£14.99 once) remembers your work in this browser with named profiles, history and Auto Optimise.
