WebHID setup for controller calibration

WebHID is what lets a web page talk directly to a PlayStation controller for centre and range writes. You need a desktop Chrome, Edge, or Opera, a USB cable, and permission when the browser asks. Firefox and Safari do not expose WebHID. Use them for reading only, if at all, and never for saving calibration.

Plug in USB before you click Connect in the Lab.

Connect for calibration writes

  1. 1

    Use a desktop browser

Chrome, Edge, or Opera on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Close phone tabs, they cannot run the tool.

  2. 2

    Plug in USB

Bluetooth works for testing; the write path for DualSense and DualShock 4 expects USB.

  3. 3

    Open DriftNo and press Connect

Pick the controller in the browser HID prompt. If you already connected, one button press wakes the pad.

  4. 4

    Run scan, then Quick Fix

Follow prompts hands-off for rest, then allow centre and range steps when the diagnosis recommends them.

FAQ

Which browsers and devices work?

Chrome, Edge or Opera on a desktop or laptop. Calibration writes use WebHID, which needs a USB connection on most controllers. Firefox and Safari do not support WebHID, and phone browsers cannot run the tool at all.

Do I need USB, or will Bluetooth work?

Bluetooth is fine for testing and for the Health Score. Calibration writes need USB on most controllers, so plug the cable in before running the parts of Quick Fix that save to the pad.

Can I calibrate without opening the controller?

Yes on DualSense and DualShock 4. Connect over USB in Chrome or Edge and DriftNo can write centre and range to the controller itself, so the correction transfers with the pad to your console. No disassembly and no soldering.

Does it work with Xbox controllers in the browser?

Testing, Health Score and deadzone preview work on a desktop browser. The browser cannot save centre and range on Xbox pads the way PlayStation USB transfer to console does. DriftNo on Steam (coming) is being built for in-game tuning on Windows, not USB transfer to Xbox console from the pad.

How do I test stick drift online?

Open DriftNo on a computer, connect the controller, take your hands off the sticks for about five seconds, then follow the short prompts. You get a resting drift reading, a circularity measurement and a 0-100 Controller Health Score.

Connect and scan

If the browser sees the pad, the rest of the path is in the Lab.
